Audience
For Asian American women in middle and senior level management positions.
Focus
This program brings powerful personal assessment and feedback elements together with research-based content that delves into issues and perceptions surrounding Asian American women’s work and leadership experiences .It is designed to provide opportunities for reflection and improvement of leadership capabilities. In addition, it offers a secure forum for Asian American women to clarify strengths and developmental issues and to work with models of power and influence to explore the choices and tradeoffs they face as Asian American women juggling personal and professional objectives. The program stimulates a process of growth that will allow each participant to take responsibility for their own leadership development and success..
Outcomes
During this program, participants:
- Gain a full and honest picture of strengths and developmental needs and identify priorities.
- Develop the leadership skill of giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- Learn strategies for using power and influence more effectively within teams and the organization.
- Learn how to overcome the biases and discomforts associated with exercising political know-how.
- Make new choices for investment of personal energy based on examination of tradeoffs and rewards.
- Learn how to lead with authenticity, clarifying personal values and their fit within the organizational culture.
- Set goals and develop strategies for improving leadership capabilities.
Special Features
- All of the participants in this program will be Asian American women, thus creating a safe environment and comfort level in which to honestly examine and change behaviors and begin a process of growth that will help them become better leaders.
- Common experiences of participants can be validating and helpful in developing response strategies.
- There will be both large and small group opportunities to receive and reflect upon feedback.
- Assessment tools will be selected for their usefulness to this population and will provide multiple points of information.
- The program’s holistic approach considers the participants’ whole self.
- A videotaped session helps individuals better understand their influencing skills.
- Confidential one-to-one feedback sessions with a feedback coach helps participants integrate and reflect on the results of the assessments and their program experiences and learnings and aids them in creating clearly defined goals and application strategies.
